When people think about vision correction, LASIK is often the first procedure that comes to mind. As the most popular and highly successful vision correction option, LASIK has helped millions of people achieve clearer vision and greater visual freedom. However, not everyone is a good candidate for LASIK. Fortunately, there are several FDA-approved vision correction options available for individuals who want to reduce their dependence on glasses or contact lenses but aren’t eligible for LASIK.
At Sutton Linder & Sutton, we offer a full range of advanced vision correction procedures, carefully matched to each patient’s unique eyes and lifestyle.
EVO Visian® ICL
The EVO Visian ICL (Implantable Collamer™ Lens) is an innovative solution for patients with nearsightedness (myopia) and astigmatism who may not be ideal candidates for LASIK.
This procedure involves implanting a soft, biocompatible lens behind the iris and in front of the eye’s natural lens during a 20–30 minute outpatient procedure.
Unlike laser vision correction, EVO Visian ICL is an additive procedure, meaning no corneal tissue is removed. The lens can also be removed or replaced if vision needs change over time. Worldwide, more than 2 million EVO Visian ICL lenses have been successfully implanted, making it a proven and trusted option.

Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA)
Advanced Surface Ablation (ASA) is an excellent alternative for patients with thin corneas or other corneal characteristics that make LASIK less suitable. ASA can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism with a high degree of precision.
While surface ablation procedures actually predate LASIK, today’s advanced techniques benefit from the same cutting-edge laser technology and customized treatments used in modern LASIK surgery. Patients undergoing ASA have access to the same diagnostic tools and treatment planning, resulting in outstanding safety and visual outcomes.
Though the healing process for ASA can take slightly longer than LASIK, many patients achieve equally excellent long-term results and freedom from glasses or contacts.

Blended Vision (Monovision)
Blended vision, also known as monovision, is a technique designed to reduce dependence on reading glasses, especially for patients experiencing age-related near vision changes.
With blended vision, one eye is corrected primarily for distance vision while the other is adjusted for near vision. The brain naturally blends the two images, allowing patients to see clearly both up close and far away without being consciously aware of which eye is doing the work.
This approach is highly customized and may include astigmatism correction to optimize results. While many patients enjoy excellent near and distance vision, occasional use of reading glasses may still be needed for very fine print or low-light situations.

Refractive Lens Exchange (Refractive Lensectomy)
Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE) involves removing the eye’s natural lens before it becomes cloudy and replacing it with a custom lens implant.
This procedure is similar to cataract surgery but is performed to correct vision rather than treat a cataract. RLE is often recommended for patients with very high levels of farsightedness, nearsightedness, or astigmatism, or for individuals who are not good candidates for laser vision correction.
By selecting an intraocular lens with the appropriate prescription, RLE can provide sharp, long-lasting vision and eliminate the future development of cataracts in the treated eye.
